which have arisen through ships being obliged to make for a harbour of refuge on account of the danger of war, or through ships being held back in harbour after the goods were already in the custody of the shipping company.

Decay of goods through discharging and demurrage.

Extra expenses through transportation to destination.

Losses which have arisen through the refusal on the

part of enemy or neutral buyers to take delivery on

account of late arrival.

Losses to goods in steamships which were transformed into

auxiliary cruisers (partly discharged, partly remained in

the ship, spoilt or lost).

IV. Through one-sided decrees of enemy authorities against Germans

in enemy or in neutral territories where the enemy enjoys extra-

-territoriality whereby Germans suffered loss of or damage to their

mems of existence, as also damage done to their health and life, and

further the losses sustained by German firms working in and with the

enemy countries abroad, through the crippling of their commercial

activity.

e.g. 1. Results of the Import-prohibition against Cernon

goods and the declaration of the invalidity, on

the part of enemy authorities, of contracts

which had already been executed on the part of

Germans, by the shipment of goods or which were

on the point of being shipped.

2. Results of the forced liquidation and similar

regulations generally, particularly

Commission of the liquidator.

Losses in outstanding debts.

Losses in other current rights and

obligħations (Freight engagerients, (Exchange contracte, &c. )
